Forms of Calligraphy

2019 – on going

Over time, with immigration, language has distorted for me. I use words that I don’t truly know the meaning, or sometimes I don’t have the words for feelings and thoughts in my head. Inspired by the Farsi alphabet and the Persian calligraphy, these illustrations explore figures and forms of human body, creating a new visual language. The configuration of letters invoke a visual poetry that convey a human emotion or gesture. All works are watercolor on paper.
